Israel demolishes two-story house in the 1948 territories

AR'ARA, December 18, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli authorities demolished a house in the town of Ar'ara in the northern Triangle region of the 1948 territories this morning, Thursday, under the pretext of building without a permit.

This comes amid a noticeable increase in demolition orders and fines in the area.

The demolished house belonged to the family of Muhammad Shadafneh, originally from the town of Iksal but residing in Ar'ara. The two-story house was home to his entire family.

Moreover, Israeli authorities forced a resident of Ar'ara to demolish two houses himself for the second time, after deeming his initial self-demolition insufficient.

Since the beginning of this year, approximately eight residents of Ar'ara have demolished their homes under the pretext of unlicensed construction, amidst repeated demolition orders issued in this regard.

The escalation of demolitions and self-demolitions in Arab towns comes amid a severe housing crisis, resulting from delays in approving detailed and structural maps and the refusal to expand plans, which increases the suffering of residents and pushes them to demolish their homes to avoid exorbitant fines and demolition costs that can reach hundreds of thousands of shekels.
