Israeli forces close Atara village gate and tighten movement restrictions north of Ramallah

RAMALLAH, December 14, 2025 (WAFA) — Israeli occupation forces closed the iron gate at the main entrance of the village of Atara, north of Ramallah, early Sunday morning, further restricting the movement of Palestinians in the area.

According to WAFA correspondent, the closure of the Atara gate, which serves as a main access point to the village, forced residents and commuters to take lengthy alternative routes to reach their destinations.

The gate is a vital passage for several Palestinian villages in the western Ramallah district, including Beit Rima, Deir Ghassaneh, Kafr Ein, and Qarawat Bani Zeid, as well as for residents traveling to and from the town of Salfit and its surrounding villages.

Local sources said the closure has caused significant delays for workers, students, and patients, adding to daily hardships faced by Palestinians due to movement restrictions imposed across the area.

In a related development, Israeli forces set up a military checkpoint near the Halamish settlement, which is built on lands belonging to the Palestinian village of Nabi Saleh. Soldiers stopped a number of vehicles, conducted searches, and checked the identification documents of passengers, leading to further disruption of traffic and movement.
