14 Palestinians killed as severe storm and freezing temperatures batter Gaza

GAZA, December 12, 2025 (WAFA) – A winter storm and severe cold sweeping across the Gaza Strip since yesterday have claimed the lives of 14 Palestinians in less than 24 hours, in addition to causing multiple building collapses across several areas, according to local and medical sources.

Civil defense and ambulance services reported that six people died when a house belonging to the Badran family collapsed in the Bir al-Naaja area in northern Gaza. Two more people died after a wall collapsed in the Al-Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City this afternoon, while another person died yesterday following a wall collapse in the Shati refugee camp.

Meantime, two children died in Gaza City due to the extreme cold, while another child died yesterday in Khan Younis under similar conditions. In addition, one resident died after a residential building collapsed, with rescue teams still searching for missing persons beneath the debris.

Civil defense crews reported that around 15 houses have collapsed across the Gaza Strip so far, including recent incidents in the Al-Karama and Sheikh Radwan neighborhoods in Gaza City. Teams continue to address the aftermath of the collapses and search for survivors under challenging weather conditions.
