JERUSALEM, December 11, 2025 (WAFA) – A rabbi affixed an altered Torah scroll to the stones of the Cotton Merchants Gate, also known as Bab al-Qattanin, one of the gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque, early Thursday morning.
The Jerusalem Governorate stated in a brief statement that a rabbi affixed an altered Torah scroll to the stones of the Cotton Gate, one of the gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque, claiming that it brings blessings and protection.
The Governorate pointed out that this violation, the affixing of a Torah scroll called a "mezuzah" to one of the western gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque, is not the first, as two scrolls were previously affixed to the Hebron and Lions' Gates of Jerusalem.
