NEW YORK, December 11, 2025 (WAFA) – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said that rainfall in the Gaza Strip is exacerbating the catastrophic humanitarian situation faced by hundreds of thousands of displaced people, particularly in camps and areas lacking basic protection.
In a post on iX on Thursday, UNRWA explained that flooded streets and water seeping into tents are worsening the already dire living conditions. The agency noted that the bitter cold, overcrowding, and lack of hygiene are increasing the risk of disease and infection, especially among children.
UNRWA stressed that this escalating suffering could be avoided through the unimpeded flow of humanitarian aid, including medical supplies and adequate shelter materials that would enable families to face the harsh winter conditions safely and with dignity.
