Israeli forces detain 40 Palestinians from the West Bank

RAMALLAH, December 9, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces launched a widespread detention campaign from Monday evening until Tuesday morning, detaining at least 40 Palestinians in the West Bank, including Jerusalem.

The Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS) said that the detentions took place in the governorates of Hebron, Nablus, and Bethlehem, with the remainder distributed across the governorates of Ramallah, Jenin, Salfit, and Qalqilya. In addition, occupation forces conducted field interrogations in several towns and detained dozens of young men.

The PPS noted that the detentions and field interrogations were accompanied by widespread abuse and assaults against the detainees and their families, including direct gunfire with intent to kill, the use of detainees as hostages, and extensive vandalism and destruction of Palestinian homes.

It is worth mentioning that the occupation authorities are continuing to carry out detention operations, which constitute the most prominent of the fixed and systematic policies that they implement daily against citizens, including all segments of Palestinian society, as the number of detentions in the West Bank after the war of extermination reached about 21,000.
