Colonists attack Palestinian lands and block shepherds near Jerusalem

JERUSALEM, December 6, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli colonists on Saturday attacked Palestinian-owned lands in the village of Mekhmas, northeast of occupied Jerusalem, and targeted Bedouin shepherds near Khan al-Ahmar, east of the city.

Local sources reported that colonists released their cows into olive fields in the Wadi al-Baradiya area of Mekhmas before attempting to attack nearby homes. Young residents intervened, forcing the colonists to withdraw.

In a related incident, an armed colonist targeted the al-Hathroura Bedouin community near Khan al-Ahmar, east of occupied Jerusalem, while other colonists assaulted shepherds and prevented them from taking their flocks to grazing areas. The armed colonist reportedly moved among homes, engaging in acts of intimidation and harassment.

The Jerusalem Governorate said that since early Saturday, colonists have been restricting shepherds in al-Hathroura from accessing surrounding pastures. When residents tried to graze their sheep, colonists attacked them again in an effort to assert control over the land. Despite these attacks, locals remained determined to stay on their land and continue their daily lives.

In recent years, attacks by colonists on Palestinian lands and communities around Jerusalem have been frequent, often involving property damage, intimidation, and obstruction of farming and grazing activities.
