Israeli army continues destruction and demolition operations in camps in northern West Bank

RAMALLAH, November 27, 2025 (WAFA) – The UNRWA Director of Operations in the West Bank, Roland Friedrich, said that the destruction in refugee camps in the northern West Bank has continued unabated for over ten months since the start of the Israeli's offensive.

In a press statement, Friedrich said that the Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nur Shams camps have been completely emptied by the occupation forces, leaving approximately 32,000 residents forcibly displaced. These camps, once vibrant and bustling, have been transformed into ghost towns.

He added that the occupation army continues to issue new demolition orders under the pretext of "military purposes."

He affirmed that the latest orders include the demolition of 12 buildings in the Jenin camp, in addition to partial demolition orders for 11 other buildings. These orders are scheduled to be carried out starting tomorrow, November 28, which he considers a new development in the efforts to reshape the topography within the camps.

Frederick noted that mass demolition orders were issued during March and June, affecting more than 190 buildings in Jenin refugee camp, in addition to the destruction of 20 other buildings in February using controlled demolition technology.

He emphasized that this systematic destruction violates fundamental principles of international law and only serves to consolidate the Israeli army's long-term control over the camps. He stressed that these camps need rebuilding, not further destruction, and that their residents must be allowed to return to their homes and resume their lives, instead of remaining in a state of perpetual forced displacement.
