CAIRO, Nov 26, 2025 (WAFA) – Minister Ahmed Assaf, the General Supervisor of Official Palestinian Media, Wednesday called on Arab media outlets to continue focusing on reporting news and ongoing events in Palestine, which has been subjected to a comprehensive aggression by the Israeli occupation forces for more than two years.
This came during Palestine's speech delivered by Minister Assaf at the 55th session of the Council of Arab Ministers, which was held at the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States headquarters in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, under the chairmanship of Syria.
In his speech, Minister Assaf demanded that the international community fulfill its duty to take immediate action to stop these Israeli violations against the Palestinian people, especially the crimes journalists are subjected to, stressing the necessity of providing protection for them and for all members of the Palestinian people, and working diligently to prosecute and hold accountable all those involved in committing crimes against them, ensuring they do not escape punishment.
He said that the Palestinian issue is passing through a dangerous turning point, in light of the presence of an extremist right-wing Israeli government that is striving to cement the occupation, confiscate and annex Palestinian land, and continue policies of killing, colonization, displacing citizens, and demolishing homes, especially in occupied Jerusalem.
Minister Assaf spoke about the policies of collective punishment committed by the occupation forces, which violate all resolutions of international legitimacy, and which are met with silence and double standards, encouraging the occupation to persist in its continuous aggression against the Palestinian people.
He conveyed to the attendees the greetings of President Mahmoud Abbas and his appreciation for the continuous Arab consensus in support of the Palestinian issue, amid the ongoing assaults on the Palestinian people and holy sites.
Assaf stressed that the leadership's current priority is to establish a ceasefire, facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, proceed with reconstruction, prevent displacement and annexation, enable the State of Palestine to assume its full responsibilities in the Gaza Strip, and stop the undermining of the institutions of the State of Palestine.
The Minister briefed the attendees on the latest field developments amid the ongoing genocide committed by the occupation forces in the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in the killing, injury, and loss of more than 300,000 citizens, in addition to causing massive and unprecedented destruction to the infrastructure, homes, and properties of citizens.
He noted that Palestinian media continues to report on the aggression facing the Palestinian people, while exposing Israeli violations that amount to war crimes.
“Our media has offered and continues to offer martyrs and the wounded, and constitutes a main pillar for conveying the Palestinian narrative to the entire world, achieving significant results in this regard,” he said.
Minister Assaf also called on Arab information ministers to collectively negotiate with global digital platforms to reverse their biased positions in favor of the occupation forces and their narrative, and to stop combating Palestinian content, asserting that the Palestinian narrative and discourse have triumphed over the fabricated Israeli narrative.
He called on concerned Arab and international institutions and bodies to intensify their efforts to document and expose the occupation's crimes against the Palestinian media and people, enhance solidarity campaigns, and pressure to end the unlawful protection enjoyed by the perpetrators.
"The male and female journalists in Palestine have embodied the highest meanings of national and professional belonging, and have continued to fulfill their noble mission of revealing the truth and conveying the suffering of our people to the world, despite all the dangers. The blood of the martyrs, the knights of truth, will remain a testament to the occupation's crimes and a motive for pursuing its perpetrators, until complete justice is achieved and impunity is ended," Assaf said.
The Minister also spoke about media development in Palestine, explaining that media infrastructure has been developed, and digital technologies have been invested in, to ensure that the Palestinian institutions can influence international public opinion, noting that they have succeeded in producing national media content in multiple languages to convey their narrative to the whole world.
He expressed his appreciation for the Arab supportive stances towards Palestine, foremost among them the Saudi position and the strong speech of Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman during his last meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House, where he spoke about the importance of establishing a free and independent State of Palestine.
Assaf also appreciated the Egyptian stances led by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, who played an important role in preventing displacement and reaching a cessation of aggression against the Palestinian people, as well as the supportive Jordanian stances led by King Abdullah II, and the brothers in Qatar, the UAE, Algeria, Morocco, and all Arab states.
