Prime Minister briefs European Parliament Leaders on Gaza ceasefire, West Bank escalations, and reconstruction efforts

RAMALLAH, November 20, 2025 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa met on Thursday at the European Parliament headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, with European Parliament President Roberta Mitsola and the Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs, holding separate discussions on the latest developments in Palestine.

The meetings were also attended by Palestinian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political and Legal Affairs Omar Awadallah and the Palestinian Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg, and the European Union, Amal Jadou Shakaa.

Mustafa affirmed Palestine's support for UN Security Council Resolution 2803 concerning the cessation of hostilities in Gaza and its readiness to work with partners to implement the resolution on the ground. He emphasized the need to end the suffering of the Palestinian people, facilitate reconstruction, and advance a political process to achieve peace, a two-state solution, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

Mustafa reiterated the State of Palestine's jurisdiction over the Gaza Strip and the West Bank under a single system, a single government, and a single armed force. He stressed that the reconstruction efforts should be led by Palestinians to implement the Arab Peace Initiative, which has received international endorsement.

The Prime Minister also reviewed the developments in the West Bank, including the ongoing daily incursions by Israeli forces into Palestinian areas, the imposition of checkpoints and restrictions on the movement of people and goods, the escalating colonist attacks on Palestinians and their property, and Israel's continued withholding of Palestinian tax revenues, which undermines the government's efforts to fulfill its obligations to its citizens.

During the meetings, Mustafa also noted the progress in implementing the institutional reform and development program, as well as the development of several laws and legislations, including the issuance of the Local Government Elections Law.
