Israeli forces tighten siege on Beit Ummar, enforce full curfew and carry out mass detentions

HEBRON, November 19, 2025 (WAFA) — Israeli occupation forces continued their strict siege on the town of Beit Ummar, north of Hebron, on Wednesday, enforcing a full curfew since yesterday after declaring the area a closed military zone.

Mohammed Awad, a local media activist, said that the forces, which imposed the curfew, have been preventing residents, ambulance crews, and other vehicles from moving within the town. He added that the military carried out a series of repressive measures against the local population throughout the day.

According to Awad, Israeli soldiers took over more than 15 homes in several neighborhoods, positioning snipers on rooftops. The forces also intensified their patrols, particularly the town center, where they prevented worshippers from reaching the mosques.

At dawn, the army carried out a large-scale detention campaign, detaining around 150 residents. The detainees were taken to a local school, where they were held and interrogated before being released hours later.

Israeli forces also continue to enforce tight restrictions on all roads leading to the city of Hebron, as well as on several of its surrounding towns and refugee camps.
