President orders delegation to consult with UNESCO on aligning education curricula with international standards

RAMALLAH, November 15, 2025 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas has instructed the Palestinian government to send a high-level delegation, led by the Minister of Education and Higher Education, to engage in consultations with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) regarding the alignment of Palestinian education curricula with international standards set by UNESCO.

The initiative is part of Palestine's ongoing efforts to improve its education system, both in form and content, while ensuring it maintains the core of Palestinian national identity and awareness. The goal is to harmonize Palestinian educational content with UNESCO’s global criteria and international commitments.

This decision came during a phone call between President Abbas and Khaled El-Anani, the newly appointed Director-General of UNESCO, who recently began his tenure.
