PARIS, November 11, 2025 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas met with French President Emmanuel Macron today at the Élysée Palace in Paris.
During the meeting, President Abbas praised France’s strong support for the Palestinian people and reiterated his gratitude to President Macron for France’s recognition of the State of Palestine.
The two leaders discussed the friendly ties and cooperation between their countries and peoples, exploring ways to develop and enhance relations across all fields, and addressed several topics of mutual interest.
They also reviewed efforts to uphold the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid, secure the release of hostages and detainees, complete the Israeli withdrawal from the Strip, enable the State of Palestine to assume its responsibilities there, advance Gaza reconstruction, prevent displacement and annexation, and restore lasting stability as a step toward ending the occupation and establishing an independent, sovereign, democratic, and viable Palestinian state in accordance with international law.
President Abbas briefed his French counterpart on the Israeli escalation in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, the ongoing expansion of colonial settlements, colonist attacks, and assaults on Christian and Islamic holy sites.
The President also highlighted the severe economic and financial challenges facing the State of Palestine due to Israel’s continued strangling of the Palestinian economy and undermining of Palestinian institutions, urging France to pressure Israel to release withheld Palestinian funds and halt any deductions under any pretext.
The President also reaffirmed Palestine’s full commitment to implementing all the reforms it has pledged.
President Abbas arrived in Paris yesterday, where he reviewed a guard of honor at the airport and was greeted with the Palestinian and French national anthems.
The President is accompanied by PLO Executive Committee member Ziad Abu Amro, Presidential Diplomatic Adviser Majdi Al-Khalidi, and Palestinian Ambassador to France Hala Abu Hassira.
