Israeli authorities demolish over 10 shops in Naqab area

NAQAB, November 11, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli bulldozers demolished more than ten shops at the entrance to the town of Laqiya in the Naqab on Tuesday morning, sparking outrage and condemnation among shop owners and residents.

The demolition is part of a broader campaign targeting several Palestinian towns in the Naqab in recent weeks, amid accusations that Israeli authorities are pursuing a systematic policy of restriction and failing to provide regulatory solutions that would allow for a stable economic life and organized commercial spaces for residents.

Shop owners emphasized that these establishments are the source of livelihood for dozens of families, noting that the demolitions were carried out without providing alternatives or licensing plans that would enable them to operate legally on their land.

In contrast, Israeli authorities justified the operation by claiming that the shops were built without permits and violated zoning regulations.

Local and union leaders called for unity and solidarity in confronting what they described as "a danger that threatens everyone without exception," demanding that the Israeli government immediately halt the campaign.

The trade unions also stressed that what the Israeli authorities call "combating encroachments on state lands" is nothing but a continuation of a systematic displacement policy aimed at seizing land for the benefit of colonial and military projects, under a misleading legal and media cover.
