RIYADH, November 7, 2025 (WAFA) – Palestinian karate athlete Hala Al-Qadi won a seat on the athletes committee of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Association during elections held at the Athletes Village in Saudi Arabia's capital, Riyadh.
The Palestinian Olympic Committee had nominated Al-Qadi in recognition of her achievements and contributions to women’s sports in Palestine, noting her successes at both local and continental levels over recent years.
The committee explained that Al-Qadi earned the confidence of the voting athletes, reflecting the growing recognition and impact of Palestinian female athletes as symbols of achievement and inspiration. Palestinian Olympic swimmer Valerie Tarazi also participated in the voting, alongside representatives from all participating delegations.
Palestinian Olympic Committee President Jibril Rajoub congratulated Al-Qadi and thanked the participating countries for their support, emphasizing that Palestinian athletes serve as ambassadors of their homeland and its cause, promoting its message through sport.
He wished her success in her role representing athletes across the association's 57 member states over the next four years.
