Israeli colonists fire live ammunition at Palestinian olive pickers south of Nablus

NABLUS, October 28, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli colonists fired live ammunition on Tuesday at Palestinian olive pickers in the town of Huwara, south of Nablus, forcing them to leave their lands and halt the harvest.

Huwara Council head Jihad Odeh told WAFA that dozens of colonists from the illegal colony Yitzhar targeted farmers in the al-Tira area of the town's northern neighborhood, injuring one person who suffered a broken foot after failing while fleeing the firing.

Odeh affirmed that the town has been frequently subjected to colonist attacks on residents, especially during the olive harvest season, making it more difficult for residents to live their normal lives and threatening their agricultural livelihoods.

In a similar context, Minister Mu'ayyad Shaaban, head of the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, said that the occupation army and colonists have carried out a total of 259 attacks against olive pickers since the start of the season in the first week of October.

He added in a press statement issued Tuesday that the Commission's teams monitored 41 attacks by the occupation army and 218 by colonists, stressing that these attacks ranged from violent physical assaults, arrest campaigns, restrictions of movement and denial of access, to intimidation to direct gunfire, as occurred in the Tubas Governorate.

The attacks were concentrated in the governorates of Ramallah with 83, Nablus with 69, followed by Hebron with 34.
