Israeli forces detain six Palestinians, including mayor, in Salfit

SALFIT, October 24, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces detained six Palestinians on Friday, including the mayor of Deir Istiya, while they were harvesting olives north of the town in the Salfit province, in the central West Bank, according to local sources.

The sources said that Israeli troops raided olive groves while farmers were working on their lands, forcibly stopping them from picking olives before detaining them, including the mayor of Deir Istiya, Abdul Rahim Zidan. They were taken to an undisclosed location.

Since the beginning of the olive harvest season, Israeli forces and colonists have intensified their attacks on farmers and their lands across the West Bank, including detentions, harassment, confiscation of equipment, and restrictions on access to groves located near settlements and outposts.
