Jerusalem Governorate: 9,820 colonists stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque during the recent Jewish holiday season

JERUSALEM, October 14, 2025 (WAFA) – The Jerusalem Governorate said today that Al-Aqsa Mosque has witnessed an unprecedented escalation in incursions during the recent Jewish holiday period, with approximately 9,820 colonists entering its courtyards under heavy protection from Israeli occupation forces.

In a press statement, the governorate said this period marked a dangerous turning point in the pattern of Israeli violations against Al-Aqsa Mosque, as the far-right Israeli government used these occasions as a political and religious pretext for a Judaization project targeting the heart of the Holy City, in an effort to impose new realities and undermine the mosque’s historical and legal status quo.

It added that several Israeli officials participated in these incursions and made provocative statements asserting Jewish sovereignty over Al-Aqsa Mosque, in blatant disregard for international laws and resolutions.

The governorate also noted that Israeli authorities expelled dozens of Jerusalemites from Al-Aqsa Mosque ahead of the holiday period, including worshippers and activists, in an effort to clear the mosque for colonists. It added that most of the expulsion orders remain in effect, with some extended for weeks or even months.

The Jerusalem Governorate warned that the ongoing systematic escalation seeks to impose temporal and spatial division at Al-Aqsa Mosque and alter its exclusively Islamic character, as part of a broader Judaization policy targeting the city and its indigenous population. It cautioned that the continuation of this aggressive policy threatens to spark a large-scale escalation that could endanger stability across the entire region.

The statement concluded by reaffirming that Jerusalem will preserve its Arab identity and remain the eternal capital of the State of Palestine, despite all attempts at Judaization and exclusion. It urged the United Nations, the Security Council, and international organizations to take immediate action to halt violations and protect the Islamic and Christian holy sites in the occupied city.
