67-year-old man seriously injured by Israeli gunfire north of Jerusalem

JERUSALEM, October 12, 2025 (WAFA) – A Palestinian man was shot and seriously injured by Israeli occupation forces on Sunday afternoon in the town of al-Ram, north of occupied Jerusalem.

According to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, its medics treated a 67-year-old man who sustained a severe gunshot wound to the thigh from live ammunition near the Israeli apartheid wall in al-Ram. He was transferred to the hospital for treatment.

The incident occurred near one of the areas where Palestinians often attempt to cross the Israeli-built segregation wall to reach their workplaces inside Israel. Due to the severe restrictions on permits and movement imposed by Israeli authorities, many Palestinian workers from the West Bank are forced to try to access work through informal or unregulated openings in the wall.

Israeli forces have frequently used live fire against Palestinians attempting to cross without permits, including workers seeking daily labor to support their families.

The segregation wall, which Israel began constructing in the early 2000s, has been widely criticized by the international community and deemed illegal by the International Court of Justice in a 2004 advisory opinion. The wall has severely impacted Palestinian freedom of movement, access to services, and livelihoods.
