Occupation forces close Hebron's Ibrahimi Mosque for Jewish holidays

HEBRON, October 8, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces (IOF) closed the Ibrahimi Mosque (Ibrahimi Mosque) to Palestinian citizens on Wednesday until Thursday evening, under the pretext of Jewish holidays.

Hebron Waqf Director Amjad Karajeh condemned the closure of the Ibrahimi Mosque under the pretext of securing colonisrs' celebration of the Jewish Sukkot holiday, considering it a blatant violation of its sanctity and a provocative assault on the right of Muslims to access their places of worship.

IOF also intensified military measures and closed all military checkpoints and electronic gates leading to the Ibrahimi Mosque to secure the settlers' celebrations of the Jewish Sukkot holiday in the mosque and its courtyards.

WAFA correspondent confirmed that IOF deployed soldiers at all entrances to the mosque to secure colonists' access to the city of Hebron and archaeological sites under the pretext of celebrating Jewish holidays. Some markets in the Old City were also closed.

The occupation forces also imposed a curfew for the third consecutive day on the Jaber, Salaymeh, Ghaith, and Wadi al-Hussein neighborhoods adjacent to the Kiryat Arba colony, built on Palestinian land and property east of Hebron.

They prevented school students from reaching their schools and tightened their military measures in the Tel Rumeida neighborhood, Shuhada Street, and Jabal al-Rahma.

It's worth noting that the Jewish holidays are a nightmare for the citizens of Hebron, especially since they coincide with major violations committed by the occupation forces, including imposing a siege, tightening military measures at checkpoints, and obstructing citizens' access to their homes, especially in the Old City of Hebron and its surroundings.
