One person dies of starvation in Gaza, bringing total hunger-related deaths to 460

GAZA, October 5, 2025 (WAFA) – Medical sources announced on Sunday the death of one person during the past 24 hours in the Gaza Strip as a result of starvation and malnutrition.

According to medical sources, the total number of deaths caused by starvation in the Gaza Strip has risen to 460, including 154 children.

Since the declaration of famine in the Gaza Strip by the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) on August 22, a total of 182 deaths have been recorded, including 39 children.

An international food insecurity assessment confirmed the occurrence of famine in Gaza Governorate and projected its spread to Deir al-Balah and Khan Yunis governorates by the end of last September.

The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) reported that more than half a million people in the Gaza Strip are facing catastrophic conditions—classified as Phase 5—which is characterized by severe hunger, death, deprivation, and extremely critical levels of acute malnutrition.
