Israel approves new settlement plan to seize land in Kafr Qaddum

QALQILIA, October 5, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation authorities have approved a new colonial plan to seize 35 dunums of land from the village of Kafr Qaddum, east of Qalqilia.

Muneef Nazzal, who monitors settlement activity in Qalqilia Governorate, told WAFA that the plan was published in Hebrew media and involves the confiscation of 35.31 dunums of land north of the village.

Nazzal explained that the plan aims to construct 58 new settlement units for the expansion of the illegal settlement of Mitzpe Yishai, which is built on land belonging to Kafr Qaddum.

Kafr Qaddum has long been a target of Israeli settlement expansion and military aggression. For years, residents have held weekly protests against land confiscation and the closure of the village’s main road, which has been blocked by Israeli forces since 2003 to facilitate settlement access.

According to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, settlement construction and land seizure have sharply increased since October 2023, as part of a wider Israeli policy of de facto annexation in the occupied West Bank. Under international law, all Israeli settlements in the occupied territories are considered illegal.
