Two Palestinian children die due to starvation and acute malnutrition in Gaza

GAZA, October 4, 2025 (WAFA) – Medical sources announced on Saturday that two children had died in the past 24 hours due to starvation and malnutrition.

The sources said that the total number of deaths due to starvation has risen to 459, including 154 children. They confirmed that since the International Crisis Group (IPG) declared famine in the Gaza Strip on August 22, 181 deaths have been recorded, including 39 children.

An international food insecurity classification, conducted in coordination with the United Nations, confirmed the occurrence of famine in the Gaza Strip, warning it could spread to the governorates of Deir al-Balah and Khan Yunis by the end of September.

The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) underlined that more than half a million people in Gaza are living in catastrophic conditions, i.e., Phase 5 of the classification, characterised by extreme hunger, death, destitution, and extremely critical levels of acute malnutrition.
