Israel revises earlier report, Palestinian shot near Bethlehem injured but not killed

BETHLEHEM, September 30, 2025 (WAFA) – The Palestinian General Authority for Civil Affairs said Tuesday evening it had informed the Commission of detainees and Ex-detainees Affairs, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society and the Ministry of Health that Mahdi Muhammad Awad Diriya, 32, was injured by the occupation forces south of Bethlehem.

This came after the occupation forces retracted the news of his death. His condition was described as between moderate and serious.

Israeli soldiers had opened fire on Diriya near the town of al-Khader, allegedly for carrying out a ramming attack, before arresting him while he was wounded.

Video footage showed the young man lying on the ground beside a vehicle after being shot by the occupation forces, with the nature of his injury remains unclear.

It is worth noting that the Israeli occupation deliberately manipulates Palestinians' emotions by announcing the death of a citizen when he is actually injured, or by announcing inaccurate names of the wounded or killed, or withholding the bodies of those shot.

This is done while blocking Palestinian ambulances from reaching them to provide treatment.
