Israeli occupation forces tighten restrictions in Ramallah governorate, assault passengers

RAMALLAH, September 28, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces on Sunday morning intensified their restrictions across Ramallah and al-Bireh Governorate in the central occupied West Bank, disrupting daily life and assaulting passengers in some occasions.

Local sources reported that Israeli troops stormed the town of Turmus Ayya, northeast of Ramallah, stopping a vehicle and beating young men inside, leaving them with bruises and contusions.

Soldiers also set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Rawabi town, obstructing the movement of residents heading to Ramallah city. Another checkpoint at the entrance to the town of Sinjil caused severe traffic congestion, while troops at the entrance to Al-Mughayyir stopped vehicles, conducted searches, and checked residents' IDs.

Earlier in the morning, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint on the road near Birzeit University and raided parts of the town. No detentions were reported.
