Israeli forces prevent teachers from reaching schools in the Jordan Valley

Jordan Valley, September 15, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Monday prevented teachers from reaching schools in the Jordan Valley through the Hamra and Tayasir military checkpoints.

Azmi Balawneh, Director of the Education Directorate in Tubas and the Northern Jordan Valley, said that dozens of teachers have been stuck since 6:00 a.m. at the Hamra and Tayasir checkpoints, waiting for the checkpoints to be opened so they can reach their schools.

He added that students in the Bedouin encampments in the Jordan Valley are also waiting on the main roads for the designated buses to transport them to their schools. These buses have so far been unable to reach their schools due to the obstruction of their passage at the checkpoints.

The educational process in the Jordan Valley is experiencing significant disruption and difficulties due to the IOF's restrictions on teachers' access to their schools, due to the closure of the checkpoints and the tightening of security measures.

It is worth noting that the number of barriers and iron gates installed by the occupation army in the West Bank reached 898 military barriers and iron gates, including 18 iron gates installed by the occupation since the beginning of this year 2025, including 146 iron gates installed by the occupation after October 7, 2023, according to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission.
