Vice Presidents discusses latest developments with Russian official

RAMALLAH, September 2, 2025 (WAFA) – Vice President Hussein al-Sheikh held a phone call on Tuesday with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin, the Special Envoy of President Putin.

The call discussed the latest developments in the Palestinian arena, the issue of visa denials to the Palestinian delegation to the United Nations, and ways to garner international recognition of the Palestinian state during the upcoming international conference.

The two sides also discussed the dangerous situation in the West Bank and Jerusalem, including settlement activity, settler violence, and the withholding of clearance revenues.

Regarding the Gaza Strip, the need to stop the aggression, allow the entry of aid, connect Gaza to the West Bank under the sovereignty of the State of Palestine, and embark on reconstruction was emphasized.

The two sides affirmed the continued close coordination between the State of Palestine and the Russian Federation to confront current challenges and enhance international efforts to hold the peace conference in New York on schedule on September 22.
