FM Aghabekian meets San Marino counterpart, welcomes intent to recognize State of Palestine

SAN MARINO, August 30, 2025 (WAFA) – Palestinian Foreign Minister Varsen Aghabekian met on Saturday with San Marino’s Foreign Minister Luca Beccari as part of her official visit to the Republic of San Marino.

Beccari expressed his country’s intention to recognize the State of Palestine during the upcoming peace conference on the two-state solution scheduled to be held in New York at the end of September. He also underscored the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields, including the prospective opening of a San Marino embassy in Palestine.

The San Marino foreign minister voiced deep concern over the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and called for intensified international efforts to end the war and ensure the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid.

Minister Aghabekian welcomed San Marino’s supportive stance on the Palestinian cause and its declared intent to recognize the State of Palestine. She stressed that this step sends an important message to countries that have yet to recognize Palestine, reaffirming that the two-state solution remains the only viable path toward a just and comprehensive peace.

She also briefed her counterpart on the ongoing Israeli violations against the Palestinian people, including the Judaization of Jerusalem and attempts to displace both Muslims and Christians from the city, stressing the need to uphold international law and UN resolutions.
