RAMALLAH, August 26, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli bulldozers demolished seven homes in the unrecognized village of al-Serr, located west of the town of Shaqib al-Salam in the Naqab region.
The heavy machinery vehicles stormed the area under the protection of a large force of Israeli police, who cordoned off the demolition site and prevented residents from approaching.
The village of al-Serr has a population of approximately 1,500 people. In recent months, the village has witnessed extensive demolitions of more than 60 homes and agricultural structures in three phases.
More than 200 homes are expected to be demolished in the coming weeks, following an Israeli court ordering the evacuation of the village.
These demolitions come as part of an escalating demolition campaign that has affected more than 5,000 homes and facilities in the Negev region since the beginning of the current Netanyahu government.
The demolition campaign has increased by more than 400%, implementing Israeli plans aimed at confining the largest possible number of Negev residents to the smallest possible area within the recognized towns and cities, and displacing the residents of the 38 unrecognized villages, home to approximately 90,000 people, in preparation for the establishment of colonial towns on their ruins.
