RSF says Israel deliberately targets journalists

PARIS, August 25, 2025 (WAFA) – Reporters Without Borders (RSF) said on Monday that Israel deliberately targets journalists, calling for an emergency UN Security Council meeting to end this massacre of journalists.

20 citizens, including five journalists and a fire truck driver, were killed, and others were injured on Monday, in an Israeli occupation shelling that targeted a group of journalists at the Nasser Medical Complex in the center of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip.

In a statement, RSF fiercely condemned the killing of the Palestinian journalists by Israeli army strikes.

RSF Director General Thibaut Bruttin said more than 200 of them have been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza over the past two years.

“Ten years after the UN Security Council adopted Resolution 2222, which protects journalists in times of conflict, the Israeli army is flouting its application,” he added.

He questioned: “how far will the Israeli armed forces go in their gradual effort to eliminate information coming from Gaza?”
