Journalist among four killed in Israeli shelling on western Gaza

GAZA, August 19, 2025 (WAFA) – Four Palestinian civilians, including a journalist, were killed on Monday evening in Israeli shelling on Sabra neighborhood in western Gaza, according to WAFA correspondent.

He said that Israeli tanks shelled Sabra, Gaza’s largest neighborhood, killing Islam al-Kumi, a journalist.

He added that the shelling targeted a house of the al-Ghazi family in the neighborhood, killing a woman and injuring others.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces targeted aid seekers to the east of Deir al-Balah, claiming the lives of two.

Earlier on Monday evening, the occupation forces targeted a group of civilians waiting for humanitarian aid in the northern Gaza Strip, killing a civilian and injuring 20 others.

Israel unilaterally ended the Gaza ceasefire agreement and resumed its aggression on the Strip on Tuesday, March 18, carrying out a wave of bloody airstrikes across the Strip and killing at least 10,460 with 44,189 others wounded, according to medical sources.

In the last 24 hours, the bodies of 60 slain Palestinians and 344 casualties were admitted to Gaza hospitals.

Israel has waged a military onslaught on the Strip since October 2023, killing 62,004 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injuring 156,230 others.

Moreover, at least 10,000 people are unaccounted for, presumed dead under the rubble of their homes throughout the Strip.

The Israeli aggression has also resulted in the forceful displacement of nearly two million people from all over the Gaza Strip, with the vast majority of the displaced forced into the densely crowded southern city of Rafah near the border with Egypt – in what has become Palestine’s largest mass exodus since the 1948 Nakba.
