Palestinian Presidency condemns new Israeli settlement plan in E1,warns of further escalation

GAZA, August 14, 2025 (WAFA) – Palestinian Presidential Spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeineh affirmed that Israel’s newly announced plan to build 3,401 settlement units in the contentious E1 area, located between Jerusalem and the Ma’ale Adumim colony, the continuation of genocidal war in the Gaza Strip, and the escalation of settler violence will only lead to further escalation, tension, and instability.

He added that all settlement activity and construction is rejected and illegal under international law, particularly Security Council Resolution 2334, which affirms that all settlements in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the entire Gaza Strip, are unlawful.

Abu Rudeineh held the Israeli government fully responsible for these dangerous actions and warned of their repercussions, noting that the settlement announcement comes in parallel with Netanyahu's statements yesterday regarding the so-called "Vision of Greater Israel."

He also held the US administration responsible for halting the Israeli occupation's actions, stressing that such wars are futile, as are the irresponsible and aggressive attacks and actions that will only create a reality that violates international legitimacy and international law.
