RAMALLAH, June 21, 2025 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has launched operations at a new field hospital in Al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis, to provide urgent medical care for displaced Palestinians, amid a deepening health crisis and ongoing mass displacement in southern Gaza.
Since opening on Wednesday, the hospital has delivered hundreds of essential medical services to patients and the wounded, including surgical procedures, under the supervision of a qualified medical team operating 24/7 across emergency, surgical, laboratory, and imaging departments.
The hospital currently has 60 beds, two operating rooms, and emergency and radiology departments.
Plans are underway to expand its capacity to 100 beds and introduce new departments, including a women’s and maternity unit, and an intensive care unit (ICU) equipped with four beds, aimed at enhancing critical care services.
This initiative is part of the PRCS’s ongoing efforts to provide health services in displacement areas and ensure access to basic medical care for the population amid the worsening humanitarian and field challenges.
