Israeli colonists destroy Zanouta School, loot its contents south of Hebron

HEBRON, April 27, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli colonists have destroyed the Zanouta School and stole its contents in the village of Zanouta, east of the town of Al-Dhahiriya in the southern West Bank province of Hebron, local sources reported.

Fayez Al-Tal, head of the Zanouta Village Council, told WAFA that a group of colonists stormed the school early Sunday and vandalized recent restoration work carried out by the council and local residents. The school had been prepared to reopen for students after repeated attacks.

Al-Tal said the colonists looted iron doors, wooden panels, and classroom dividers before vandalizing the school. He noted that this is only the latest in a series of violent assaults on the school by Israeli colonists.

He added that colonists have repeatedly attacked the village, destroyed homes, and forcibly displaced residents through violence and property destruction.

In November 2023, colonists set fire to and destroyed the Zanouta Coeducational Primary School. Their ongoing assaults forced more than 250 residents to abandon their homes on October 28, 2023, in what amounted to forcible transfer.

After more than nine months of displacement, villagers obtained an Israeli court order in August 2024 allowing their return to Zanouta — only to face yet another devastating attack.
