RAMALLAH, April 22, 2025 (WAFA) – Jens Laerke, spokesperson for the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), said on Tuesday that the Gaza Strip is experiencing the "worst humanitarian situation" since the beginning of the war due to Israel's blocking of humanitarian aid.
This came in response to a question about Israel's blocking of humanitarian aid for more than 50 days, during a press conference at the UN Office in Geneva.
Laerke noted that humanitarian aid has not reached Gaza for 50 days, and that commercial goods have not reached Gaza for even longer.
He added: "In Gaza, you can see a clear trend towards a complete catastrophe. Right now, the humanitarian situation in Gaza is probably the worst since the beginning of the war."
