Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes France’s pledge to recognize State of Palestine

RAMALLAH, April 10, 2025 (WAFA) — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates warmly welcomed the recent announcement by French President Emmanuel Macron declaring France’s intention to officially recognize the State of Palestine in the coming months.

The Ministry hailed the move as a reaffirmation of France’s enduring commitment to international law and United Nations resolutions that uphold the rights of the Palestinian people, particularly their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state.

The Ministry also reiterated its call for full Palestinian membership in the United Nations and urged the international community to lend its support to this objective. It emphasized the importance of the upcoming international conference scheduled for June, co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia, which aims to reinvigorate efforts toward implementing the two-state solution and advancing a comprehensive and lasting peace in the region.

The Ministry concluded by urging all countries that have not yet recognized Palestine to take this crucial and historic step, and to stand with the Palestinian people in their pursuit of freedom, sovereignty, and justice.
