CAIRO, April 7, 2025 (WAFA) – The Jordanian-Egyptian-French tripartite summit, held in Cairo on Monday, bringing together Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Jordanian King Abdullah II, and French President Emmanuel Macron, emphasized that maintaining order and security in Gaza and throughout the Palestinian territories must be undertaken exclusively under the auspices of the Palestinian Authority, with strong regional and international support.
The leaders expressed their readiness to assist in this regard in coordination with partners.
In a joint statement, they called for an immediate return to the ceasefire, the protection of Palestinians, and ensuring their immediate and full access to emergency humanitarian assistance.
The leaders also called for the implementation of the ceasefire agreement signed on January 19, which stipulated the release of all prisoners and detainees and the guarantee of security for all.
They emphasized that the protection of civilians and humanitarian workers and ensuring full access to aid are obligations that must be fulfilled under international law and international humanitarian law.
The three leaders expressed their grave concern about the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the West Bank and East Jerusalem and called for an end to all unilateral measures that undermine the viability of a two-state solution and increase tensions.
They stressed the need to respect the historical status quo of the holy sites in Jerusalem and expressed their rejection of the displacement of Palestinians from their land and any attempt to annex Palestinian territories.
The leaders called for international support for the Gaza Reconstruction Plan, adopted by the Arab Summit held in Cairo on March 4 and endorsed by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on March 7, and discussed mechanisms for its effective implementation with regard to security and governance.
They reaffirmed the need to crystallize these efforts at the June conference, to be co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia, to build a clear political horizon for the implementation of the two-state solution.
They expressed their support for the Gaza Reconstruction Conference to be held in Cairo in the near future.
