RAMALLAH, April 7, 2025 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa held on Monday a meeting with a number of economic experts and relevant ministers to discuss ways to overcome Israel’s illegal deductions from Palestinian tax funds, commonly known as clearance revenues, and to explore practical solutions to address the severe crisis facing public finances.
The discussions centered on exploring economic alternatives, improving and developing the financial system, and reducing dependency on the Israeli side due to the relationship imposed by the reality of the occupation, especially in light of the increasing deductions from Palestinian tax revenues by Israel.
Discussions also addressed practical steps with international partners to address imbalances in the Paris Protocol (Protocol on Economic Relations), which governs financial transactions between the two sides. Additionally, participants emphasized the importance of combating smuggling and tax evasion, which cost the Palestinian national economy more than one billion shekels annually.
