Palestinian detainees at Israel's Nafha and Rimon Prisons endure dire conditions

RAMALLAH, March 20, 2025 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS) that the administration of Ganot Prison, formerly known as Nafha and Rimon prisons, recently carried out repressive measures using the Yamaz units, assaulting detainees and tightly shackling them.

In a statement, the PPS said that the prison service intensively fired sound bombs inside one of the sections, making this raid one of hundreds of raids against detainees, which have escalated since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on the Strip.

The prison administration has intensified its repression measures against the detainees, conducting raids, firing sound bombs and rubber bullets, and unlaeshing police dogs on detainees.

The PPS further emphasized that the policy of handcuffs constitutes one of the most prominent tools used by the Israeli occupation regime to abuse and torture detainees.

Since the beginning of the Israeli's aggression, this issue has emerged primarily in detainee testimonies, focusing on how the occupation forces used handcuffs to abuse them during detention. This included all categories of detainees, including children and women, who were detained for hours, the sick, the wounded, and those with mobility disabilities.

According to other testimonies, some detainees were handcuffed for days before being transferred to interrogation centers or jails.
