Israeli forces continue their brutal assault on Tulkarm for 49th consecutive day

TULKARM, March 16, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces are continuing their offensive in the city of Tulkarm and its refugee camp for the 49th consecutive day, and in the Nour Shams refugee camp to the east for the 36th day, in an ongoing escalation marked by intensive home raids, forced displacement of civilians, and the burning and demolition of homes.

WAFA correspondent reported that Israeli forces continue demolishing homes in various neighborhoods of the Tulkarm refugee camp, forcing residents to leave under threat and intimidation, particularly targeting the areas of Al-Murabba'at Hannoun, Qaqoon, and Abu Al-Foul.

Eyewitnesses stated that there was a wave of displacement in the Tulkarm refugee camp after midnight, following home raids, searches, and the destruction of personal belongings. Additionally, Israeli forces handed eviction notices to residents of the neighborhood of Dhannaba, near the camp, ordering them to vacate their homes by noon today.

On Saturday, Israeli forces forcibly evicted the remaining residents of Al- Murabba'at Hannoun neighborhood in Tulkarm refugee camp, threatening to detain anyone found in their homes afterward.

In a further escalation, Israeli troops deployed infantry units inside the camp's alleys this morning, chasing residents as they tried to leave their homes to gather basic supplies. Forces seized more homes, converting them into military posts and sniper positions.

Meanwhile, in Nour Shams refugee camp, Israeli forces set fire to a home and detonated others after displacing their residents. Troops continued to raid homes in several locations of the camp, specifically in the Al-Jabal Al-Nasr and Al-Mahjar neighborhoods, looting, vandalizing, and interrogating residents.

These ongoing attacks are part of Israel's broader escalation in Tulkarm and its refugee camps, which have resulted in the killing of 13 Palestinians, including a child and two women, one of whom was eight months pregnant. Many others have been wounded or detained, while over 24,000 people have been displaced—12,000 from Nour Shams Camp and 12,000 from Tulkarm Camp.

The destruction caused by the offensive has been widespread, with damage to vital infrastructure, including water, electricity, sewage, and communication networks, as well as extensive destruction of homes, businesses, and vehicles, including both complete and partial demolitions, fires, and thefts.
