Colonists attack civilians in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, leaving several injured

HEBRON, March 8, 2025 (WAFA) – Several Palestinians were injured on Saturday evening as they were attacked by armed Israeli colonists in the Masafer Yatta area, located south of Hebron in the occupied West Bank.

Anti-settlement activist Osama Makhamra reported to WAFA that colonists from the Susya settlement, illegally built on the land of Masafer Yatta, attacked Palestinian residents of the Wadi Jahish community, including women and children, at the time of Iftar.

The colonists, under the protection of Israeli forces, assaulted the residents with batons, causing injuries, including bruises. Makhamra added that the colonists also uprooted several trees in the area during the attack.

Simultaneously, Israeli forces detained Ahmed Khaled al-Najjar, a man with a disability, while he was tending to his sheep near his home in the al-Qawwais area of Masafer Yatta.

According to a report by the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, Israeli forces and colonists carried out 1,705 attacks against Palestinians and their property in February.

Of these, Israeli forces were responsible for 1,475 attacks, while colonists carried out 230 attacks. The majority of these incidents occurred in the Nablus governorate, with 300 attacks, followed by Hebron with 267 attacks, and Ramallah and Al-Bireh with 263 attacks.
