GENEVA, March 5, 2025 (WAFA) – The United Nations Special Rapporteur on Torture said that the Israeli attacks on Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip were extremely devastating.

This was noted in a report presented by Alice Jill Edwards, the UN Special Rapporteur on torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment, late Tuesday night. The report focused on torture during captivity, presented on the sidelines of the 58th session of the UN Human Rights Council held in Geneva.

Edwards described the Israeli attacks on Gaza as completely devastating for Palestinian civilians.

She reported that she is closely monitoring numerous accounts of torture and other forms of ill-treatment endured by Palestinians detained by Israel.
