RAMALLAH, March 4, 2025 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs said on Tuesday that the conditions in Ofer prison, located west of Ramallah, are tragic, noting that the policy of suppression of detainees' rooms is still ongoing.
It said, quoting its lawyer that the detainees were subjected to a raid by units affiliated with the prison administration. Additionally the raid was accompanied by assaulting the detainees with batons and spraying gas, causing many of them bruises throughout their bodies.
The Commission further affirmed that the reason for the raid was the detainees' protest by knocking on the doors, in order to demand that the administration provide treatment to one of the sick prisoners.
It pointed out that the detainees complain about the shortage in the quantities of food provided to them, and because of that the prisoners lost a lot of weight.
