Israeli occupation delays release of seventh batch of prisoners under ceasefire agreement

RAMALLAH, February 23, 2025 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Prisoners’ Society and the Palestinian Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Commission announced last night that Israeli authorities have postponed the release of the seventh batch of Palestinian prisoners to an indefinite date.

The release was originally scheduled for Saturday as part of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.

The seventh batch includes 402 prisoners, among them 50 sentenced to life imprisonment, 60 with long sentences, 445 prisoners from Gaza, who were detained by Israeli forces during their aggression on the Gaza Strip after October 7, 2023.

Hundreds of people and the families of the detainees had gathered from early Saturday morning, braving the cold weather, at the Cultural Palace of Ramallah and the Mahmoud Darwish Museum Square in the city to welcome the prisoners.
