During a meeting with British MPs, Prime Minister: Palestinian statehood and ending occupation is the only path to peace

RAMALLAH, February 19, 2025 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa reaffirmed that ending the occupation and realizing the independent Palestinian state based on the two-State solution is the only path to end the conflict and achieve lasting peace in the region. This, he stressed, must be achieved through concrete steps to implement international legitimacy resolutions, particularly UN Security Council Resolution 2735, which serves as a roadmap for this solution.

His remarks came during a meeting with a British parliamentary delegation on Wednesday at his office in Ramallah, in the presence of Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs Varsen Shaheen.

The Prime Minister briefed the delegation on the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian Territory amidst the escalating Israeli occupation’s aggression against the Palestinian people, especially in the northern West Bank. He highlighted the systematic destruction of homes, infrastructure, and properties, the forced displacement of civilians, killings and detentions, and the sharp increase in Israeli military checkpoints, now totaling nearly 900, which severely restrict the movement of people and goods. He also underscored the illegal Israeli settlement expansion, land confiscation, and repeated settler attacks.

Mustafa also outlined the Government's efforts to implement its Relief, Recovery, and Emergency Response plan for Gaza, focusing on providing temporary shelter, restoring essential services, and repairing partially damaged homes, laying the foundation for full-scale reconstruction. He emphasized that the Palestinian Government has put in place a reconstruction plan for this purpose, which is being developed in coordination with Arab and international partners.

Additionally, the Prime Minister reviewed the progress achieved in the institutional reform and development agenda, which spans multiple sectors. He noted that many of its components have been successfully implemented according to the designated timeline.
