Foreign Ministry calls for international action on recent colonial settlement plans

RAMALLAH, February 18, 2025 (WAFA) – The Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ministry Tuesday called for international action on the recent Israeli colonial settlement construction plans.

The Ministry called on the international community to assume its responsibilities with regard to recent colonial settlement plans and said that it views with deep concern the announcement by the Israeli occupation authorities of a tender for the construction of 974 new colonial units in the Afrat settlement, as revealed by Israeli human rights group Peace Now.

It slammed the construction of the new colonial units as an extension of the Israeli occupation schemes intended to forestall a lasting and durable outcome of the conflict as per Israeli interests and expansionist ambitions in the West Bank and noted that such a tender would effectively block the urban expansion of Bethlehem.

It reiterated that the consolidation of Israeli colonial construction would directly serve to further entrench the Israeli apartheid regime and that it fell under Israel’s unlawful unilateral measures intended to undermine any prospect for a peaceful settlement of the conflict.
