PCBS report shows increase Consumer Price Index (CPI) in the West Bank

RAMALLAH, February 13, 2025 (WAFA) – A report by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) issued on Thursday showed an increase in Consumer Price Index (CPI) during January 2025 in the West Bank and Decrease in Gaza Strip.

With the announcement of the ceasefire in Gaza Strip, the consumer price index in Gaza Strip declined, recording a decrease of 53.27% during January 2025 compared to December 2024, while the index recorded an increase in the West Bank** by 0.34%, and in Jerusalem J1* by 0.44%, due to these changes CPI in Palestine decreased by 32.56%.

The changes in Palestinian CPI during January 2025 were traced back to changes in prices of the following expenditure sub groups compared with previous month:

The Palestinian CPI during January 2025 increased by 22.77% compared with January 2024 (75.48% in Gaza Strip, 1.90% Jerusalem J1*, and by 0.16% in the West Bank**).
