RAMALLAH, February 12, 2025 (WAFA) – President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas highly appreciates the courageous stances of King Abdullah II of Jordan.
The President considered these stances an extension of the solid stances of the Jordanian leadership in support of the just and legitimate national rights of Palestinian people, and adherence to peace based on international legitimacy resolutions, the Arab Peace Initiative, and the principle of the two-state solution, embodying the State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital, and preserving the historical and legal status of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem within the framework of the Hashemite guardianship.
President praised the King's announcement to host sick and wounded children from the Gaza Strip for treatment, which is in addition to what the Kingdom is doing in providing humanitarian aid and operating Jordanian field hospitals in Gaza and the West Bank.
President Abbas reiterated the importance of coordinating Arab efforts and stances to adopt the Arab peace vision at the upcoming emergency Arab summit, appreciating the importance of the efforts made by the global coalition to implement the two-state solution and obtain more international recognition for the State of Palestine, and holding the international peace conference in the middle of this year, co-chaired by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and France.
Meanwhile, the President, once again, appreciated the courageous positions of the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and all the countries which rejected projects to displace Palestinian people and annex their lands, and stressed that there is no peace or stability except by embodying the Palestinian state, insisting on a complete cessation of war, and the immediate start of relief for Palestinian people, and the State of Palestine assuming its responsibility in the Gaza Strip, and rebuilding what the occupation destroyed, according to a well-thought-out plan that enjoys official and popular Palestinian Arab consensus, aiming to rebuild while Palestinian people are on their land.
The President reiterated Palestinian people's commitment to remaining on their land in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem, and "that Palestine is not for sale."
