Israeli forces briefly detain journalists in Jenin refugee camp

GAZA, February 9, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces briefly detained several journalists today in the Jenin refugee camp, according to local reports.

WAFA correspondent confirmed that the Israeli forces briefly detained a number of journalists after opening fire in the area where they were working. The journalists were present during an incident in which some residents of the camp attempted to return to their homes to retrieve their personal belongings.

The forces held three journalists, confiscated their phones, and conducted a thorough search of the devices. They were then interrogated before being released under the condition that they would not return to the camp.

This detention comes as Israel's unprecedented aggression on the city and refugee camp of Jenin enters its 20th day, leaving behind 25 fatalities, dozens of injuries, and numerous people detained. The ongoing assault continues to inflict severe hardship on the local population.
