Prime Minister Mustafa and Egyptian Foreign Minister discuss political coordination; affirm rejection of forced  displacement plans

RAMALLAH, February, 5 2024 (WAFA) Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Mustafa met today in the Egyptian capital Cairo, with Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdel Aati, during which they discussed the developments in the situation in Palestine, and the coordination of political positions, most notably the rejection of the displacement plans for our people from all Palestinian territories, especially from the Gaza Strip, the emphasis on the Palestinian government assuming its duties in the Strip as an integral part of the Palestinian state.

Mustafa discussed with Abdel Aati enhancing coordination to maximize relief efforts for the people in the Gaza Strip, by supporting the Palestinian government in implementing its plan for relief and early recovery and responding to the urgent needs of our people in the Strip, removing rubble, providing temporary shelter, and restoring partially damaged homes, in preparation for comprehensive reconstruction in cooperation with international partners.

During the meeting, he stressed the need for international pressure on Israel to stop its escalation in the West Bank, especially in the northern governorates of the West Bank and its camps, which are facing a tight siege, destruction of infrastructure, demolition of homes and facilities, and forcing citizens to flee their homes.

In turn, Abdel-Ati stressed Egypt's support for the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, emphasizing the need to strive to reach a permanent and just political solution to the Palestinian issue, through the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, which prevents the recurrence of aggression in a final and permanent manner.

He also stressed the importance of empowering the Palestinian Authority politically and economically, assuming its duties in the Gaza Strip, and rejecting displacement plans from the Strip, reviewing Egypt's efforts aimed at ensuring the sustainability of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, and implementing all its provisions in its three time stages, stressing Egypt's full support for the Palestinian government and its reform plans.

The meeting was attended by, Minister of Interior Major General Ziad Hab Al-Rih, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Wael Zaqout, and Palestinian Ambassador to Egypt Diab Al-Louh.
